JADE

One of the hardest known minerals, Jade has long been sought out as a stone for carving. The name Jade actually refers to two distinct minerals, Jadeite and Nephrite. Jadeite is slightly harder and has a deep green colour from impurities of chromium, whereas Nephrite is softer and less dense. High quality Jade is uncommon and imitations are frequent, Bowenite (similar to Serpentine) is sometimes stained green to imitate the colour of imperial Jade, while African Jade is actually green Garnet from Transvaal.

Jade is known as a dream stone and a stone of fidelity. It can help you remember dreams and assist with dream interpreting. It is used to release suppressed emotions during dreamtime and assist in accessing the spirit world. It is also a stone of longevity, serenity, healing of the body, and spirit. Jade brings wisdom, justice, courage and gives protection. It is associated with earth magic and gardening so place a piece of Jade in your garden to improve the plants. It heals the heart and if lovers exchange it the love is bound. It can attract and enhance love and is a stone of fidelity and generosity. It provides balance for any who are emotionally over-sensitive. Jade promotes detachment from the emotional body and encourages selective, focused thoughts. It provides an instinctive ability to sense the truth in any situation. It is excellent for past life recall and meditation. Wear Jade on your left hand or left side to attract prosperity. It is peaceful, nurturing and will dispel negativity. It can protect against evil thoughts and fight nightmares. An emotional balancer and stabilizer it is also a stone of abundance. Jade allows access to Mayan dreamtime.

Jade has a balancing effect on the heart and brings awareness of the body’s instinctual capacity. This awareness maintains a continual connection with the planet and its energies, creating a sense of belonging and an increased sensitivity to surroundings. It improves the efficiency of all healing processes. Jade strengthens the heart, kidneys and immune systems, helps cleanse the blood and increases fertility. It is beneficial for eye disorders, voice, bones, lungs, PTSD and the nervous system. Worn around the neck of children it can prevent illness.

NEPHRITE

As a stone of the heart, Nephrite is related to the Heart chakra and has a positive effect on all love relationships. It is also considered useful for emotional balance and stability. It is very protective and especially good protection for children, against illness and for psychic protection. Nephrite is a largely unrecognized power stone with energetic clearing properties and is useful to keep with other stones. A gentle healer, it is helpful when undergoing surgery as it calms the nerves. Placed under the pillow it will bring deep and restful sleep. Nephrite can transmute anger into acceptance and aids forgiveness of those who hurt you. It will give protection to sensitive people in tense, negative and loud situations. It can assist in decision making regarding emotional or spiritual issues. The Maoris carved Nephrite into human form representing ancestral spirits. Hei-tiki, meaning carvings for the neck, channel the energy of these ancestors to be accessed by the descendants.

Nephrite can balance the yin / yang energies and provide balance between yourself and a partner. It integrates universal energies into the body and balances the internal and external worlds of your reality. It may be beneficial for the physical heart and the kidneys.
