This week I want to concentrate on precious metals, gold and silver for their metaphysical attributes, but some others for comparison.
Firstly the boring details………………………. then followed by the good bits……………….
White gold and platinum are not the same. White gold is an alloy of gold and some white metal such as silver and palladium. It can be 18ct, 14ct or 9ct. 18ct yellow gold is made by mixing 75% gold with 25% other metals such as copper and zinc. 18ct white gold is made by mixing 75% gold with 25% other metals such as silver and palladium. Nickel was previously used in white gold but has been discontinued as it can cause reactions in some people.
White gold rings, when new, are coated with rhodium, a metal similar to platinum, to make the white gold look whiter.
Platinum is a white metal that is used in a purer form at 95% pure. It is heavier than gold and extremely expensive.
Unless white gold is coated with rhodium it is more of a grey colour than platinum.
White Gold and Platinum
Rose Gold is made using a mix of 75% pure gold with 25% copper. The amount of copper provides the rose-red colour. Red gold can be 50% gold and 50% copper. The rose gold is very pretty.
Titanium is the hardest natural element, silver/grey/white in colour. It is extremely strong and cannot be soldered, so rings made of this element cannot be resized and may be very difficult to cut off in the case of an emergency.
Palladium has a silver/grey/white colour and is similar to platinum, including in price.
9ct gold has 37.5% pure gold, 14ct 58.5% pure gold, and 18ct has 75% pure gold. This is so whether it is white, yellow or rose.
Gold can symbolize power, strength, wealth, warmth, happiness, love, hope, optimism, intelligence, justice, balance, perfection, summer, harvest and the sun.
Wedding rings are made of gold as it is long-lasting and unaffected by the passage of time. The symbolism of the ring in the eternal vows taken before god and/or the sun and moon, may be the perfection of marriage.
Gold will balance the energy fields, opening and balancing the Third Eye and Crown chakras and also balancing the Heart chakra. It removes negative energy from the chakras and brings in positive from the stones with the gold. It is used to bring wealth and happiness. It will allow you to attain and maintain communion with the source of all beings. The energy it emits allows beauty to come forth from the inner being.
Injectable gold has been shown to help reduce pain and swelling in rheumatoid arthritis and tuberculosis.
Gold Filled (Rolled Gold)
While the 14 Karat gold filled jewellery is not solid gold, the gold which covers the whole surface of the gold filled wire can still have an energetic impact.
Silver ( which I prefer, mostly for its relationship to the Moon)
Sterling Silver is an alloy (.925) of Silver and Copper, primarily Silver. Argentium Silver is .925 Sterling Silver with added Germanium.
Silver can mirror the soul and strengthen the connection between astral and physical bodies and enhance intuitive and psychic energies. It is said to improve speech, bestowing eloquence. It will also attract, enhance and store energies of gemstones and draw out negative energies. Silver is related to the Moon and moon energies. It may be beneficial for hepatitis, eliminating toxins, headache, rheumatic pain, nausea, gastritis, obesity, diabetes and aid absorption of Vitamins A and E.
