I have a deep and abiding passion for crystals and gemstones. My home is surrounded by them. I live with them, work with them, love them and do readings with them. I have written a book about them. Originally I intended to do this blog on Citrine, but someone else did a great blog on Citrine last week, so this week I have chosen Calcite. I personally have a large orange, a blue and a clear Calcite, the orange one looking just like a peeled orange and so beautiful. Also in my collection is some honey calcite.
There are approximately 700 varieties of calcite and it is found in many colours. Calcite amplifies energy and is useful in multi-directional energy distribution. It aids the mind to remember information gathered while astral travelling and channelling. Calcite is a useful stone to have around for intellectual purposes or for study. Wise and balancing, Calcite grants wisdom and will keep you mentally alert. It will also lessen fear and reduce stress. It can increase the power and effectiveness of any undertaking, meditation and psychic protection. Calcite enhances clarity of thought and vision and gives the ability to see truth. It can bring confidence to children via their hopes and dreams.
Calcite promotes purification, peace, calm, awareness and an appreciation of nature. If you keep a piece of Calcite in a room it will clear the room of negative energies. This stone increases psychic abilities, links the emotions and intellect, brings hope and banishes laziness. It produces energy on all levels. It can calm the mind, teach discernment, stimulate insight and boost memory. Calcite is also helpful in increasing intuition and the capacity for astral projection. It is protecting, grounding and centring. It can enhance creativity, imagination and prosperity. It is a stone of spirituality, wisdom and reconciliation.

Orange or Tangerine Calcite can get the energy moving around you. It enables you to find new ways to solve problems. The answer was right there but there was no energy to see. Blue Calcite relates to the Throat chakra. It is excellent for channelling and increasing energy. It will help balance and soothe emotional and mental states allowing you to define your actions. If you are feeling overcome by forceful changes, use this stone to lessen the trauma and help you through calmly. Its amplified energy enhances communication and thought and helps with memory. Blue Calcite uses gentle energy for recuperation and relaxation and helps with expressing emotion. It will soothe the nerves and anxiety as well as release negative emotions. As with all Calcites it balances the emotions and is very calming. Used in meditation it will help to ground excess energy and increase the ability for astral projection. It is joyful, enhances spiritual awareness and promotes a feeling of being connected and of wellbeing. Clear Calcite is beneficial for headaches. It relates to all chakras but particularly the Crown.

This crystal gives a sense of peace and of being in control. It helps release old mental patterns and can bring strength in times of mental anguish, shock or turmoil. It can assist with manifestation and abundance and can bring money into the home. Green Calcite promotes success, prosperity, business and fertility of every kind. It is therefore a good stone for gardening. It enhances intuition and psychic ability.
Green Calcite assists in overcoming addictions and aids healing following exposure to toxic fumes. It will help calm a nervous stomach or nervousness in general. In times of transition and readjustment it helps to have it nearby. It will assist interaction between head and heart as it relates to the Heart chakra. Green Calcite is beneficial for the heart, thymus, chest, shoulders, lower lungs, heartburn, bones, kidneys, bladder, endocrine system, nervous tics, stammering, neurosis, arthritis, rheumatism, joint or ligament pain and general pain. It is also useful for healing tumours and malignancies.
The colour of Honey Calcite ranges from light golden brown to a darker honey brown. Honey Calcite amplifies energy and assists with the challenges associated with change or difficult situations. It enhances psychic abilities, astral projection and higher consciousness. It will also increase memory and intellect. Use it to alleviate tiredness or when you feel disillusioned. It is very calming. Honey Calcite relates to the Sacral and Solar Plexus chakras.
