My father would be spinning in his grave these days. He was a bank manager in the days when banks were honourable, not the greedy big corporations they are today. He joined the bank when he left school and remained in the bank for over 50 years. In those days the banks were more friendly and personal instead of the money hungry impersonal treatment of employees and customers. Having grown up with the manager’s residence being a part of bank (in the country) and seeing how things were then, I really hate the way the banks are behaving nowadays.
This blog didn’t start out as a diatribe on the banks! I started out to send my thoughts to all those caught up in the floods in Queensland, NSW and Victoria.
I heard that Nathalia was expecting massive flooding and remembered some old photos of a flood when my father was bank manager there.
My father on the steps of the CBC Bank in Nathalia. I am not sure of the year but would think it would be in the very early 1940s.
