After my blog on Flint and Fossils which included Amber I was asked for my thoughts on Jet, and reminded that Amber and Jet necklaces were used together in traditional witches necklaces. 
I have had such a necklace (it may have changed from time to time, but the antique beads of jet and amber have always remained the same), for over 30 years now. These beads came from two antique necklaces I purchased many many years ago and made two necklaces with. The other necklace was given to a friend, a fellow witch.
Amber is fossilised gum or sap of a tree and jet is fossilised wood. Jet has also been called Black Amber. Both originating from living trees, they would have to have an affinity to each other.
I will discuss Jet in the Pagan Blog Project at a later date, when we come to the J’s.
