Titanium Amethyst – Another Beautiful Crystal

Titanium Amethyst:

Always on the lookout for new (to me) stones, I recently discovered this gorgeous crystal. It is Amethyst infused with Titanium using extreme heat to create Rainbow Titanium Aura Amethyst. The rainbow colours stimulate the aura and charge the chakras.

As it has all the properties of Titanium and Amethyst, it is a most powerful and protective stone with a very high vibration and is great for creativity and artistic activities..

Amethyst:

Amethyst is one of the most beautiful and versatile crystals. Being a stone of spirituality and contentment it provides a connection to the earth plane and other worlds. This crystal clears the aura and brings peace, stability and strength to anyone using it. As it is excellent for meditation it enhances psychic and channeling abilities. Reading My Crystal Ball

Reading my crystal ball

I purchased my crystal ball around 40 years ago from Czechoslovakia. Over the intervening years I have tried to read it, but with little success.

Research on how to read a crystal ball and the methods some people use were to no avail. Evidently the best way is to place it on a black cloth in a darkened room, with only a couple of candles to illuminate the area. Then you need to meditate and perform deep breathing exercises to prepare yourself.

Place your hands over the crystal ball, infusing it with your energy, while you reflect on the answers you are looking for.

When you are ready, remove your hands and gaze into the ball with your eyes relaxed and unfocused.

You may see symbols which you will then need to interpret, or you may see smoke swirling around.

Whatever you see, with the mind totally relaxed, you should be able to read the meaning.

A similar method is used when reading a black mirror, or bowl of water.

I wish you all luck in your readings. Sadly, as I mentioned, I have not had any luck in using this form of divination.

My Furry Friends Part 6 – More Fami and Zeus

More fun with the boys:

How could you not love these two beautiful boys.

Zeus is such a beautiful kitty. It took him a while to come around but now he is very loving and sociable. He doesn’t like new cats coming into his space though.

But this little boy, Fami, is super snugly and cuddly. The only problem is when anyone comes to the house he runs and hides, not reappearing until they leave. Yet he was so much more sociable than Zeus when I first met them. He snuggled with my daughter then, but she has hardly ever seen him since. Zeus, on the other hand, generally comes out to greet people when they visit.

Fami has laser eyes happening.

When I decided to move to the Riverland the boys were very helpful with packing. But they soon decided to lay down on the job.

Here they were exhausted from all the packing.

And again still exhausted….

As perhaps you will have guessed by now, I have hundred of photos of these boys.

There will be more photos and posts so keep watching for them. The boys are very special and helped me tremendously in getting over the loss of my beautiful Little Bit.

My Furry Friends Part 4 – Fami and Zeus

When Little Bit crossed the Rainbow Bridge in October 2012 I wanted to wait and mourn before thinking of getting another cat. After a couple of weeks of being so terribly lonely and alone I began looking online at kittens. I thought perhaps a ginger cat who would not remind me of Little bit. There was one ginger in Adelaide who caught my eye and I inquired about it.

So then it begins:

From there came a heap of coincidences. This kitten had a brother with him at the shelter. An all black named Zeus. Many years ago I gave my daughter a black cat she named Zeus. Then I discovered that these two little ones had been found and taken into the vet in Murray Bridge for euthanization. A lady visiting the vets over-heard and made a desperate attempt to save the two kittens. She succeeded and kept them for a few weeks before taking them down to the shelter in Adelaide. I was living in Murray Bridge at the time just around the corner from the vet!

I contacted the shelter and arranged to see the ginger and black kittens thinking to get one of them. The ginger one was very cuddly at that time but the black one bit me. Needless to say I ended up taking both babies as I couldn’t separate them. Another coincidence was that it was the birthday of the lady caring for them, but it was also the birthday of my second grandson.

The ginger was named Buddha at the time but I renamed him Fami. The black would have been Fami except for the coincidence of his current name, so he remained Zeus.

As my house was on a very busy corner with a small shopping centre across the road, I had a cat run built along the side of the house with entry to it via a cat-door in the laundry window.

They both loved the run and spent many hours outside. Having each other to play with, they weren’t really naughty boys apart from what they did to my bedroom curtain!

They also liked to booby trap the doorway in my bedroom during the night.

I invited the lady who rescued them with her friend to come and visit them when they came to live with me. We found we had many interests in common as well as the cats so she is now one of my dearest friends.

Lemon Quartz

LEMON QUARTZ

Lemon Quartz is not a crystal I had come in contact with at the time of writing my book “The Definitive Crystal, Gem and Mineral Reference Guide. I dealt with many different varieties of quartz but this one didn’t appear on my radar.

I recently discovered this sunny uplifting stone which attracts abundance, much like Citrine. Unlike the orange or gold colour of Citrine though, Lemon Quartz comes in various shades of yellow.

These crystals can occur naturally but are also manufactured with gamma radiation.

A powerful stone it is self-cleansing so never needs to be cleaned. It is a good luck stone and can help remove negative thinking or mental blockages.

Using it can speed up recovery from illness or injury and help after surgery.

If you are trying to diet or give up smoking, Lemon Quartz will reduce cravings. It is also said to help with diabetes.

Lemon Quartz has a Mohs hardness of 7 with a composition of SiO2, the same as other quartz. It is commonly found in Brazil.

This is a very pretty stone and lovely to add to your collection, but some people may find its power and energy too much to cope with.

Book of Shadows

BOOK OF SHADOWS

My first Book of Shadows began with my original coven when I copied from their Book of Shadows. From then on it has become an eclectic collection of spells, rituals and useful information. This compilation of five volumes took many years to collect. The red book is mainly an index to all the others as I could never find anything. The black book with red trim is more of a diary of magick meetings and workings.

For a truly organized Book of Shadows, a ring binder, with labelled tabs, would have been great. The pages could be rearranged as necessary and it would make finding spells, rituals or tables of reference so much easier. One with a leather covering would look more like most people imagines they do. Of course I never thought of that at the time and they probably were not around.

I also know of some modern-day witches who keep their Book of Shadows on their computers. This again would be an easy method.

But I must admit I like the idea of having a more traditional looking, magickal and mystical book to reference.

In my Book of Shadows there is circle casting, a guide to the sabbats, rituals, many different tables of reference for planets, colours, candles, herbs, all things relating to Witchcraft. Words and music of Pagan songs are also contained within my books. Of course it had to include the Witch’s Rune, The Witch’s Creed and The Charge. The Wiccan Rede was necessary…. “Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill – An it harm none, do what thou wilt”, to provide an ethical way of life.

Crystals are mentioned in my BoS but my main source of reference for them is my book, The Definitive Crystal, Gem and Mineral Reference Guide. This book took me several years and a lot of research to write and is invaluable to me. Along the way I gathered many of the crystals to meditate on as I wrote about them. I use these crystals daily and they surround me in my home.

Your Book of Shadows is a personal and private journal of your thoughts and path. Therefore no-one else should ever write in it but you. If someone has something they want to record they need to start their own book.

There are many books written today with all the information you could ever want. The internet is also a great source of reference. There are a lot of different paths you can take in your spiritual journey and most of that information is readily available. Back when I began, books on anything along these lines were extremely hard to come by. We had to search interstate and overseas which meant that any access to other Books of Shadows was priceless. Witchcraft was very much a secret way of life in those days and in many parts of the world illegal. It has become very much more open and available these days, but there are still people around who either don’t believe in it or are frightened by it.

I am a solitary witch by choice now, only occasionally working with other people, so my Books of Shadow are very necessary. I take what I need to use for spells, rituals and tables of correspondence from any source and path I can find.

Spells or rituals to cause harm or evil only bring negativity and thus don’t have a place in a book that in my opinion, requires positive vibrations. Also your BoS should only contain things to do with Wicca, Witchcraft and Magick.

A Book of Shadows is a personal collection kept by Witches and Pagans whilst a Grimoire is not so personal and instead includes information about rituals, spells, potions, and how to prepare magical tools.

Little Bit – A Very Special Furry Friend

The Beginning

A tiny wee kitty was found in a dumpster at Calvary Hospital, late on Friday afternoon, 31st May 1996. This kitty was no more than 2-3 weeks of age. She was brought down to my workplace to see if anyone could take her, otherwise she was to be drowned. Everyone had excuses, had cats and didn’t want any more, had dogs, needed to ask their parents, husband, wife, whatever. I already had a cat and after losing Taffy, I wasn’t ready for more.

I couldn’t bear the thought of her being drowned though, so said I would take her for the weekend.

On the Monday suddenly everyone wanted her. But after feeding her warmed milk from a syringe all weekend, there was no way I was giving her up. Many names were considered but she was such a little bit of a thing, she became Little Bit or LB.

The Fun Times

This cheeky little ball of mischief very quickly won my heart. She loved to hang over the backs of dining chairs and play with her tail through the rungs. She would also climb a floor standing candelabra. Walking along the top of the shower door and swiping at me was another fun pastime.

My teenage grandson was living with me, when one night she had us laughing until we cried. I attached a cat toy on elastic to the door knob. She kept leaping up and grabbing it. When she tried to pull it to her the elastic snatched it away again. She was so determined and wasn’t going to be beaten if she could help it. This went on for a few hours until she finally had to give up. As she walked away she was dragging her front paws with a bad case of repetitive strain.

Little Bit also like to get into some weird places, one rather dangerous.

Her Trauma

While she was still only a young girl, although de-sexed, she was attacked by a very large tomcat. This left her traumatized. Before that she was happy to go outside and roam around. Afterwards she didn’t want to go out at all and would go no further than a few steps from the door.

Little bit developed a habit of using her claws to pull a thread of the knitted covers on the lounge, then biting it. I was never sure if she was cleaning her claws or her teeth. But I suspect it was mainly a nervous habit relating back to the trauma.

She moved house with me three times and would remain close to the perimeter of the house. She never left the yard, but was not left outside when I wasn’t home. That way I knew she was safe.

Whenever I did any magical work or rituals she had to be a part of it and help. Circle working usually involved her presence and participation.

The End

The first week of October 2012 was an absolute nightmare. LB decided she would no longer eat. For several days she still drank water – not as much as usual but at least she was drinking.

When the sun was shining she would drag herself outside and sit or lie in the sun. But mostly she just curled up in her bed and slept. I put a piece of Rose Quartz in her bed with her for unconditional love. Rose Quartz is also good for stress and animals suffering trauma.

At night she wanted to be on my knee and then in bed with me. She slept on the pillow beside me always.

She became very thin and when she wasn’t sleeping she desperately wanted to be with me. When her back legs no longer worked properly she would drag herself along crying out for me. Over the weekend her condition deteriorated further.

I hoped and prayed she would pass naturally as she had a bad experience with vets and was always terrified of going to them. I felt that to take her there would be the final betrayal. Unfortunately her strong will to live kept her alive. Finally I had to make the heartbreaking decision to take her to the vet. She was my faithful friend for 16.5 years since being hand reared from that 2-3 weeks old tiny kitten.

A friend called in a few minutes before the vet appointment so came with me. I couldn’t stop crying and needed her support. I didn’t want to go alone.

With all previous partings, be it divorce, relationship breakups, the deaths of my parents and brother, as well as all my other furry friends, there was always someone or another animal to help me through.

Generally when an animal began to get old i would get another pet. This was to keep them company and to help with the transition when the time came. After LB’s traumatic experience with the tomcat, she hated and feared other cats so I didn’t get another. For most of the 16.5 years we were together it was only ever the two of us.

At 4.55 pm on the 8th October, Little Bit crossed over peacefully while I held and patted her. At the last minute she looked up at me as if to say goodbye. It was so hard to leave her there but she was to be cremated and then return home with me.

Going home without her, the house was so empty and lonely. I missed her terribly. After so many years together, my pretty girl was gone. When I cleared up her bed a few days later, the piece of Rose Quartz had disappeared never to be found again. I feel she took it with her.

Her spirit and ghost remain with me. I see and hear her often, even after moving to a different town.

Amber and Jet

Neither Amber nor Jet are strictly crystals or gemstones in the true sense of the meaning. Amber comes from fossilized pine tree resin and Jet is formed from fossilized wood.

AMBER

Colour: Yellow, yellow-red, red, green, blue which is rare and highly sought after.

Origin of Name: The English word amber stems from the old Arabic word anbargris or ambergris

Date Discovered: At least 13,000 years ago

Mohs Hardness: 2 – 2.5

Formula: C₁₀H₁₆O

Caution: Toxic dust, fumes, possible ingestive toxicity

Where Found: Dominican Republic, Kazakhstan, Poland, Spain, USA

Chakras: Solar Plexus, Sacral

Amber is actually fossilized pine tree resin formed fifty to seventy million years ago. Often it has inclusions of insects, plant parts or air bubbles. It has strong connections to the Earth and is very grounding. Although most Amber is cloudy, this can generally be cleared by gentle heat. It stimulates intellect, is cheerful and joyful, repels spiders and is a powerful healer. It can be used to pledge vows and promises. Amber is likened to the setting sun and is thought to carry the warm sunlight energies in its depths.

Amber has electrical properties – static electricity is generated when it is rubbed. Because of this it benefits the body’s electrical systems. It improves the brain and nervous system and relieves anxiety and depression. It can enhance clarity of the mind. Wear it as jewellery for its grounding and stabilizing properties, but being such a stimulating stone, some of you may find that you cannot wear it for too long before it causes irritation or over-stimulation.

A little like coffee or caffeine, too much usage can cause chaos, bad temper or arguments. Providing you are able to use this excess energy there should be no problems. Worn as a necklace at the Throat chakra, it will help protect you while casting spells during ritual. Those able to wear Amber will find it brings patience, protection, psychic shielding, romantic love, sensuality, purification, balance, healing and calmness. It is very protective and beneficial for the mind, encouraging self-expression and a positive attitude. Its nervous energy can provide the stimulus to get things moving if there are restrictions, doubt or stagnation.

Jet is formed from fossilized wood which looks like coal. It was used as mourning jewellery in Victorian times, being considered useful for alleviating grief. It has powerful protection energies and can ward off evil, negativity and psychic attack. It can also protect against illness and violence as well as protecting the stability of your finances. It helps dispel depression and mood swings and is very calming. People who are attracted to Jet are considered old souls. Although primarily related to the Root chakra, Jet can be used on the upper chakras to help the kundalini move to the Crown chakra. If you have trouble sleeping use Jet on one side of your bed and Amber on the other.

Jet may be beneficial for colds, migraine, epilepsy, glandular problems, lymphatic system, stomach pain and menstrual cramps.

I have a beautiful set of Amber pendant and earrings which I wear very rarely as unfortunately I am one of the people who are unable to wear Amber for long. It makes me edgy and irritable, producing symptoms not unlike PMS which can be very unpleasant.

Many years ago I purchased a string of Amber beads and another of Jet. Being unable to wear the Amber by itself, I combined the two and made the above necklace of Amber and Jet including a silver pentagram and was thus able to wear it for both ritual work and for pleasure.
