Over the past few years, I have been combining crystals with fragrances for use in Magic, Spells and healing. I began writing a book using research from my previous book but it hasn’t progressed quite as quickly as I would want it to. Consequently, I have decided to publish here in instalments.
When working or meditating with gems and crystals making use of fragrances can greatly enhance the experience. These fragrances can be essential oils, incense, herbs or flowers that have been associated with the particular gem.
Lavender:
My favourite flower and fragrance have always been Lavender. When my children were young there were bunches of lavender hung all around the house to dry.
Lavender brings peace and tranquillity, is calming, relieves headaches and helps with relaxation and sleep. It aids in all rituals and spell-crafting involving protection, love, healing, longevity, purification and peace. Its calming properties can dispel depression and help control emotions.
It blends well with most oils, especially citrus and florals, chamomile, clary sage, geranium, pine, rosemary, patchouli, clove, cedarwood and vetiver.
I always associate Lavender with Amethyst which is my favourite crystal or gemstone.

Amethyst is one of the most beautiful and versatile crystals. A stone of spirituality and contentment, it provides a connection to the earth plane and other worlds. It clears the aura and brings peace, stability and strength. It is excellent for meditation and enhances psychic abilities.
Amethyst, like Lavender, is very calming and is a good stone to use if you suffer from insomnia and will also help you to remember your dreams.
This crystal has a high vibration and is very powerful and protective, protecting against fear, nightmares, black magic or evil spells.
It can relieve migraine, headaches, insomnia, arthritis, pain, circulation, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, breathing problems, asthma, phobias, menopause, PMS and general healing.
By using Lavender and Amethyst together when meditating or working with magic, you greatly increase the benefits of both.

From an early age, I could see auras and knew things were going to happen before they did. I also had many invisible friends. Several ghosts have appeared over the years and they still visit occasionally.
Obviously the adults around me dismissed it as imagination.
I was brought up High Church of England, sang in the choir (even though I can’t sing). I was baptised and confirmed, all the Christian things, but never felt right about any of it.
Surprisingly, my mother never managed to be able to remain for a full church service. She would have a coughing fit or feel sick and have to leave. Hmmmmm. As she was adopted with no records about her mother I don’t know her maternal background.
My Irish grandmother (my father’s parents) was a seventh child and my grandfather, her husband was also a seventh child.
To this day I still get flashes of things happening that do come true. However, there is never enough information to prevent them from occurring. They come in either dream or daytime flashes out of the blue.
My Parents-in-law lived opposite an old cemetery and my Mother-in-law and I often tried using an Ouija board. We didn’t have a lot of success but a lot of fun. I went on to experiment with Tarot cards, using them with moderate success for several years. My next venture was to learn Astrology with Bonnie Mathers. I was also exploring reincarnation, which made a lot more sense to me than just one life then you die.
I knew most of the psychics and clairvoyants around Adelaide at that time, but perhaps one of the most influential for me was the Witch of Melbourne Street, one Tim Hartridge. Tim showed me the path of Witchcraft and so began a new way of life. I will always be grateful to Tim as my life changed completely and began to have so much more meaning.
Research and Learning:
Back in the early days, information and books on these subjects were very difficult to source. We had to search hard for anything we could find. There was no internet and therefore no Google.
The books I accumulated which helped me significantly on my path, were those by Janet and Stewart Farrar, Scott Cunningham, Raymond Buckland, Doreen Valiente, Starhawk’s Spiral Dance. An excellent more recent book is for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere by Frances Billinghurst, Dancing the Sacred Wheel. https://francesbillinghurst.blogspot.com/ Nowadays there is any number of books on the subject.
I worked with several covens over the years and made many like-minded friends. These days I generally prefer to work solitary.
Divination:
I experimented with several different forms of divination with varying degrees of success. Finally, I discovered an affinity with crystals and gemstones and never looked back. I began to use them in readings and as I progressed I achieved better results. Two methods of readings are used: one is by scattering the crystals onto a sheepskin and reading them as they fall. The other method is using a board which I devised based on Astrology.
Publications:
For several years I produced and sold my Astrological Transit Diaries which contained daily transits along with considerable useful information. Included in the diary was a section on how to read the transits. Each new customer received a laminated copy of their personal birth chart wheel enclosed in a ziplock bag bound in the back of the diary. They could take the chart out to use and also put it into the next year’s diary.
I ceased producing the diaries when I began to write a book on crystals which took up most of my time in research and writing for a few years. The book, which I wrote many years ago is called ” The Definitive Crystal, Gemstone and Mineral Reference Guide”. I am particularly proud of the reference tables. Initially, I started writing solely for my own benefit, but it progressed a long way from that beginning.
There is another book I have been playing around with for a while, but it is a slow process. Someday, when it is finished, it will get published as well.
I did many crystal readings at home and also was on call for a local crystal shop for readings.
As a member of U3A, I ran a 12-month course on the metaphysical properties of crystals. This was a lot of fun and I made several new friends. We had a couple of field trips to the Mannum Gem Museum and Crystal Wave, both of which were very successful.
I identify more with Witchcraft than with Wicca, but my beliefs and customs are what have developed over many years of research, practice and learning. Learning for me is an ongoing process and always will be as there is always more new things to discover.
My journey is not over. It began in past lives, through the present and will continue on through what future lives lie ahead.
Domestic violence has become far too prevalent. The nation is reeling from the recent events in Brisbane where a young mother, Hannah Clarke, and her three beautiful, innocent, small children were doused in petrol by her abusive husband. He ambushed them in their car when on their way to school. This monster set them alight before stabbing himself, thus making sure he escaped having to account for his crimes.
Hannah had been trying to escape him for several months and this was his revenge. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
Domestic violence is horrific and this is the worst case I have heard of. What drives someone to murder their partner and especially their own children?
Domestic violence is not only physical but can also be mental and emotional abuse where the perpetrator isolates their victim from their support from friends and family.
Although the abuser is generally male, females can also be the abuser.
We have to find a way to stop this terrible merry-go-round.
Perhaps a start could be when an AVO is taken out against an abuser, there could be mandatory counselling for the abuser. If they breach the AVO or fail to undertake the counselling, a stint in gaol may be the answer.
If anyone suspects abuse of any kind is going on they must report it and the appropriate authorities, police, welfare, government, must act quickly to prevent this from ever happening again.
Save the children:
The next step is educating our children that violence and control are not the answer. If children are allowed to grow up thinking that it is all right to behave in this manner, then the problem continues to escalate. Any child showing these tendencies may need counselling as well. Children learn by watching their parents and how they behave. Bullying is happening in many of our schools and especially online and these little thugs need to be stopped before they grow into abusers or murderers themselves.
The fate of the world is in the hands of the children.
My story:
I was sexually abused at the age of 9. For several years afterwards, I was sent to spend holidays at my abuser’s house. Having been threatened, I was afraid to tell my parents so had to spend those holidays terrified to be alone in the room with just him. The holidays ceased when the wife died. Once my abuser had died, I tried to tell my mother but she just brushed it off. My father was deceased by that time, so he never had to know.
My school years were also hard. I was bullied all the time so I was always alone where possible. I found it hard to make friends and still do. I never really felt that I fit in anywhere and usually prefer my own company.
This blog is not about me. The information included is to show why I am so against abuse of any kind. This all must stop and it is up to all of us to make it so.
You will need a green candle and a piece of Citrine.
Place the piece of Citrine in front of the candle and light the candle. As it burns, chant the spell.

Selenite is a transparent gem variety
of the common mineral gypsum. It is very soft and delicate which limits its

Yesterday early morning I went out to put out the rubbish. Later in the morning, I went out to the shops. After lunch, I made some muffins and took some over to my daughter’s. I generally don’t see a lot of my four cats during the day as that’s when they sleep so they can run around at night. Late afternoon I kept hearing strange noises but dismissed them as the wind which was quite strong. Zeus was behaving oddly, running back and forth between the front and back doors but he does that if there are strays about or to watch the birds. Then I heard a loud noise down the other end of the house so thought perhaps I should investigate. I went into my bedroom and pulled back the curtain to see a black and white cat jump down from the table outside my window. My first thought was that it was Little Tuxie back, but then it turned around. EM WAS OUTSIDE. I thought the cat run was inescapable. I quickly went out and as I hurried down the veranda, she ran towards me and practically jumped into my arms and cuddled She never likes being picked up normally. After putting her back inside I went out and checked the cat run but couldn’t see any way she could have escaped. I can only surmise that she snuck out when I put the rubbish out. The other times I went out the front I would have seen her. This meant she had been out all day and had been trying to get back in. Fortunately, she didn’t run away. Since then she has stuck by my side and stayed where she can see me. Naughty little minx, I hope she has learnt her lesson.
Update:
Well, I now know I didn’t let her out. Walked into the dining area this afternoon and found her halfway up the screen door ON THE OUTSIDE! I rang for reinforcements and Suzie came over and checked everything out. The little b*tch had burrowed out under the side of the cat run. Suzie filled up the holes with bricks and sand so we hope she can’t get out again. Bloody little Houdini!!!!
The other thing was when I brought her back inside I said to her “where the f*k are the other cats” and a voice from my POCKET said, “I can’t answer that question. Your mobile data is not on”.I have never used the voice function on my phone so that was a little scary lol.
